After putting the podcast on hold last October, I’m glad to be back and want to catch you up to speed with everything that’s happened since then.
Watch out because more episodes will be coming very very soon. That’s all I’ll say...
If you’ve listened to Episode 02 - Diagnosis, you will have met my sweet grandmother Cherry. Devastatingly last November, the world lost a little bit of light as Cherry passed away. It was incredibly tough for my family and I to deal with, but she had a beautiful send off, at which I was very honoured to deliver a eulogy. There’ll never be anyone quite like Cherry ever again, but thank the lord I recorded her interview in the precious months before her death. She’ll live on through her stories, her voice, and the impact she had on those around her. Please make sure to listen to her story in Episode 02, it might just make your day.
A couple of days ago, I received my copy of the latest CF Life magazine published by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. I was especially anticipating this issue because they were very kind to feature me talking about the podcast (in the centre spread no less!). I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the magazine and if you want your own copy, make sure to head over to the CF Trust website, where there’s also an extended interview with me (link coming soon).
Fiona was my physiotherapist at the Wolfson Adult CF Centre and was also my first ever physio as a newborn baby, so I was very sad to hear that she was retiring. She is a well-loved member of the Cystic Fibrosis community and one whose knowledge and expertise has helped me and many other people with CF treat our condition better. Fortunately her expertise is not wholly lost, as she can be heard in Episode 03 - Treatment. Her insights into the importance of a physiotherapy routine that fits the individuals needs of someone with CF is invaluable, so make sure to check that out. Thank you Fiona for everything you’ve done for me and my family since you first entered our lives 24 years ago.
British Podcast Awards
Straight from the Lungs has been entered into this year’s British Podcast Awards. I’m eagerly awaiting the nominations, which are due to be announced in a couple of week’s time. It would mean a lot for the podcast to be recognised in such an amazing way, for my efforts and the efforts of so many others to be seen by the wider podcasting world. It’d also be an honour to join the many award-winning podcasts that inspired me to create Straight from the Lungs. You can read more about those in a previous blog post.
Another huge thank you to everyone who has been supporting the podcast so far. I’ve had many lovely responses to the episodes and your patience during this break has not gone unnoticed. As I mentioned, you might not have to wait much longer for more!
