Straight from the Lungs receives a lot of grateful support from many organisations, inside and outside of the cystic fibrosis community. Find out more about each of our Friends below.
Cystic Fibrosis Trust
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust fight for a life unlimited by CF. They constantly research new treatments and provide support and education resources for the community.
I won a Helen Barrett Bright Ideas Award in 2017 from the Cystic Fibrosis Trust which has helped me to fund Straight from the Lungs.
You'll be able to hear the Trust's Director of Engagement, Oli Lewington in various episodes of the podcast.
Cystic Fibrosis Care
Cystic Fibrosis Care aim to support CF patients in the here and now, such as helping them get access to laptops to continue working whilst in hospital, to funding travel for clinic visits.
You'll be able to hear Martine from Cystic Fibrosis Care in various episodes of the podcast.
Birmingham City University
Straight from the Lungs is recorded at Birmingham City University, where I studied BA Visual Communication: Film & Animation from 2013-2016. I also worked as an animation lecturer/technician in the 2017/18 academic year, and remain an associate to the university.
I worked with Sam at Ember Television in 2016/17 and he listens to every episode before anybody else. As someone with very limited exposure to Cystic Fibrosis, Sam helps me make sure everything makes sense to someone learning about CF for the first time.
You'll be able to hear from Sam in Episode 06 of the podcast, where we discuss how he helped me manage my Cystic Fibrosis in the workplace. I also sat down with Sam to discuss how Straight from the Lungs was created in Extra Breaths 01.
